Teaching
Areas of current and recent teaching span Information Technology
at undergraduate and postgraduate levels; Enabling Technologies;
Systems design and implementation; and Information and Society
including information policy. Human factors in LIS is an area of
development, encompassing the design of library and information
services, and issues concerned with human and physical resource
management.
Involvement in short courses (internal and external) is varied.
Recent events include organising a seminar on CD ROM networking,
courses on JANET and the Internet, and contributions on the
impact of IT on job design and work control, and staffing and
training.
Research Interests

General interests cover developments in library automation, the
Internet and WWW, and information policy.
Research supervision includes MA and MSc Dissertations/Major
Projects. Currently Director of Studies for a PhD on Networking
and co-operation in university libraries; and a supervisor for an
MPhil investigating the effect of learning style on the use of
the WWW to support learning in Library and Information Studies.

Biography
Library experience ranges across the public and academic sectors,
with a period working for a library systems supplier, before
discovering teaching and research:
